Thoths from the Editor in Chief
by Etu Malku

We are saddened to hear the passing of Hierophant Price's beloved dog and companion Merlin. Throughout the years I've known MagaLynne (my nickname for Ms. Price) she has shared photos and stories of Merlin, he was truly a beautiful animal and led a wonderful and comfortable life, of which he was deserved. We will miss him greatly!

This time of year H☿D elects its Council members who make the decisions and govern the Order so that its blood thirsting tyrant founder can never have the final say in matters. This is a good thing.

An experiment in communication was begun with our dear friends and WLHP allies the Sect of the Horned God. Within H☿D there are what we call Cells (Facebook groups) that are either setup for members only or they invite the public inside. Each Cell is designed to guide a person to Mercurius Consciousness through a certain majiqal discipline. We decided to invite founders of the SOTHG Lisa Corrine and Thomas LeRoy into one of the members only Cells to get a feel and talk. If everything goes well invitations will be sent to other SOTHG members to hang with us in certain Cells. The Sect remains itself and H☿D remains itself and two LHP forces get to merge and throw ideas around. This is also a good thing.

Mercuræn Tarot: an interview with Adept Devora Zada Moon
by Phillip Torrey
Adept Devora Zada Moon is the head of the Herald of the Dawns Tarot & Cartomancy Cell. She is also an avid explorer of Inner Space seeking communication and communion between the self and the Self via exploration of dreams and related states, meditation, journalism, and Tarot. It was a pleasure interviewing her!

PT: Could you explain what the tarot is exactly?
DZM: Tarot originated in Europe several hundred years ago. There’s still much speculation concerning where and when the first packs appeared. Traditional Tarot decks of today usually contain 78 cards: 22 trumps/Major Arcana (major secrets or mysteries), 56 Minor Arcana (lesser secrets/mysteries). The Minor Arcana is divided into 4 suits, similar to the suits of regular playing cards, except that each suit contains 4 court cards (example: King, Queen, Knight, and Page) as opposed to the King, Queen and Jack of standard playing card packs. Tarot has changed through the generations and is now utilized for brainstorming ideas, mindscaping, meditation, divination, majiq and manifesting, as well as for simple enjoyment of the artwork. And it’s still possible to play card games with the Tarot.

PT: How is it that you got into the tarot?
DZM: I was naturally intuitive as a child; most often the intuitive input coming through in dreams. As a youngster I assumed everyone experienced intuitive dreams, though quickly learned that, if so, most others seemed not to recognize them for what they were, dismissed them as unimportant and not useful, or just kept quiet about it. As a young adult I had an opportunity to take a summer course offered by a professor of psychology and philosophy - “Exploring Inner Space.” The course was excellent, and while we barely touched on tarot in that short summer class, I discovered and connected with adults of all ages who “spoke my language,” regarding experiences and perceived potential for further exploration. Soon after, I happened onto my first tarot deck. The first two decks I purchased simply did not work for me. I could not extract anything from study of the cards or attempting spreads. The third deck worked for me well, straight out of the box.

PT: When it comes to the tarot what inspires you, and how is that inspiration captured in your workings/readings?
DZM: It seems that any life situation, relationship, feeling, or experience can be depicted via one card or a grouping of cards. This amazes me! As for utilization of this in workings, I enjoy tarot themed jewelry. If I’m pushing for a victory in some matter, I may wear a 6 of Rods pin or pendant. If heading out on vacation with a friend, I might opt to wear The Sun and 2 of Cups, or tuck those cards into my travel journal. With regard to readings, I simply toss the spread and read the story that unfolds within the cards.

PT: What has been your biggest mistake as a Tarot Reader? What did you learn from that experience?
DZM: Tossing a spread for myself and then discounting what the cards revealed simply because it seemed too far fetched. I almost died as the result of one such experience, and thus learned to at least consider the message even if/when that message would seem implausible.

PT: Could you explain Tarot Philosophy?
DZM: If you are asking how and why Tarot works, the short answer is we don’t know. Modern day practitioners tend to speak in terms of synchronicity. Another premise is that of the unconscious projecting onto and via the cards, in similar fashion as working with Rorschach inkblots. Today’s tarot enthusiasts don’t tend to view material suggested by a spread as depicting a destined future, but rather bringing to mind choices and options, awareness of current energies and where those energies might lead if left unchecked and unchanged. If you don’t like what the cards seem to be showing, it’s time to shake up the energy and manifest something more to your liking. I have some additional thought relevant to the ideology of Herald of the Dawn.

PT: Now that you have explained what Tarot Philosophy is, could you please tell me about your philosophy in regards to the Tarot?
DZM: It is my premise that our Higher Self attempts to communicate with our everyday waking world conscious self regularly; but that these messages can often be overlooked and pass unrecognized, or unappreciated and under utilized by the lower self. It has been demonstrated through practice, that the symbols encountered in tarot and similar cartomancy systems, function as do dream symbols, speaking a language unique to the individual. This is a language utilized by the Higher Self in communicating with the self. And thus, it is important and useful for each of us to take time to learn the unique language of our Higher Self. Further, I believe that we may consciously initiate conversation and communion with our Higher Self via use of the tarot and similar systems.

PT: Is there a known code of ethics?
DZM: As far as I know there isn’t a universally agreed upon code of ethics. There are some groups and organizations that insist their members abide by certain rules. I’ve discovered that, in practice, such dictates are often ignored. That said, client confidentiality, I think, is crucial, as is the case in any professional relationship. Treating clients with respect and honesty. Stating fees, if any, up front. Empowering individuals to take control of their own lives, choices and decisions to the fullest extent possible. These, are the ethics most readers and instructors I have known honor, and which I adhere to myself.

PT: Is there any nonfactual knowledge out there about the tarot that you like to see go away forever, and if so, why?
DZM: Oh, that would have to be the old “The Tarot is the Devil’s Picture Book” line. It just plain isn’t. Also the spiel that utilizing tarot opens one to possession, depravity, and worse. This type of misinformation generally comes from individuals of certain religions. They believe this without investigating for themselves. On the flip side there are a few radical dogmatic atheists who will claim tarot has no use at all; is meaningless, and only for the weak minded, gullible or flim-flam artists. Again, that simply is not the case. And while there seems to be no cure for willful ignorance, these mindsets do seem to be gradually fading. I am pleased that such beliefs are fading, because they are limiting and can function as obstacles toward expansion of knowledge in certain areas of human potential.

PT: It is now known that there are 13 zodiac signs, the tarot corresponds to the 12 zodiac signs, how do you think this affects tarot readings/workings? If it even affects them at all?
DZM: In my experience, and in speaking with tarot students, instructors, and readers, it seems not to affect tarot readings and workings at all. In part, this may be due to the fact that individual taroists often create their own correspondences, different from the older set correspondences. I would not be surprised, however, if in the future, we may see some new packs that fit Ophiuchus into the mix somewhere!

PT: Can you please explain what your Mercurean Tarot & Cartomancy Cell is? What can one expect when they join the Mercurean Tarot & Cartomancy Cell? What are your expectations of them?
DZM: For starters, I probably should have named the Cell, “Mercurean Tarot, Cartomancy, & Oracles;” and I may change the name to that, as this will be a place where participants are encouraged to work with any cartomancy pack or oracle of choice toward the purpose of becoming able to more readily facilitate communication between the self and The Self. The objective being that of achieving a more ongoing state of Mercurius Consciousness. Those entering the Cell will have access to a space in which all participants may share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences, and hopefully achieve progress through such sharings. Oracles of choice may include, but certainly are not limited to: Tarot, Lenormand, Gypsy, Kpper, Runes, and more. Already we have at least one participant fluent in the Elder Futhark, another working with Medicine Cards, several with various Tarot packs such as Thoth, Rider Waite, Enochian, Marseille, etc. Oh, and also we have a participant who actually prefers and is proficient in scrying with a crystal ball. I am very excited in considering the potential for such a diverse and interesting group of individuals.
As for expectations of members - just bring a healthy desire to learn, along with some of your own thoughts, ideas, experiences, and questions, to share. That, and do honor confidentiality of those within the Cell.

PT: Do you have any final words that you would like to share about your Mercurean Tarot & Cartomancy Cell, and or Tarot in general? What advice do you have for someone just beginning Tarot?
DZM: This is a Cell of the Herald of the Dawn; however select individuals who are not members of H☿D may be considered for admission. PM for further info on that if you are not a H☿D  member.
As for advice for someone just beginning with Tarot or any other oracle - do take time to find a deck or oracle that is right for you...... something you resonate with right from the start.

PT: Thank you for doing this interview, it has been a pleasure.
DZM: Thanks for inviting me, Phillip. I’ve enjoyed this very much.

The Michael W Ford Luciferian Tarot Discontinuation Tarot Article/Interview
by Phillip Torrey

Michael W. Ford is an Author of 23 books, as well as a composer of dark ambient and ritualistic music. Michael Ford is also Archon and High Priest of the Greater Church of Lucifer, the founder and Magus of The Order of Phosphorus, as well as Yatus of The Black Order of the Dragon.

The Luciferian Tarot by Michael W. Ford, over the years become a favored deck among tarot enthusiasts world wide since its introduction in 2007. The Luciferian Tarot is symbolic of the Daemonic feminine and the shadow side. You will come to realize that the Luciferian Tarot fully presents and explores all the faces of the Adversary all throughout history. This deck is designed as an initiation tool, and is full of gnosis to power your mind, and to find your deepest and darkest desires. You can use anyone of the Tarot Spreads presented in the Luciferian Tarots companion book, The First Book of Luciferian Tarot, however, try not to limit yourself to only thinking that the Luciferian Tarot is just a divining tool! You can use the cards in ritual, they can be used to invoke, and can be consecrated to use as a talisman! (see Michael Fords Adversarial Light: Magick of the Nephilim)

The Luciferian Tarot has been a powerful initiatory tool for many Luciferians, and LHP Practitioners, and maybe some RHP Practitioners as well. As wonderful as these cards are they are being discontinued! I felt that it was my responsibility to address this to not only recognize the cards themselves, but to recognize the Luciferians/LHP Practitioners that became upon their initiatory path with the assistance of this pictorial grimoire. These past couple of days I have had the privilege of talking with a few Practitioners of the Luciferian Tarot, and this is what they had to say…

The Luciferian says: (as she recites with her eyes closed) " I invoke thee, Samael, Angel of Lawlessness, bring forth the Black Flame, that it may illuminate the Great Angel within. I invoke thy Bride Lilith, Mother of Demons, rise up and stir the imagination. Ignite me with the knowledge of all hidden things and send a serpent for my sight. In my name it shall be done"….. I have recited this Introduction Ritual Invocation many times and each time I get chills up my spine, It just puts you in the right state of mind for any tarot working. I do not know what Mr. Ford has planned, however, If there is going to be a future Luciferian Tarot I hope he keeps this invocation for future generations!

Francois Remi Roy says: I have worked with the deck and I found that the style and color of it gives it a eerie feeling. I've meditated on the cards, using them as point of focus. They tap into dark parts of your soul the longer the meditation, the greater the gnosis. I also had strange dream of being in the sea in a storm , and flying over a active volcano... I think its a shame that it will now be out of print because it is a deck especially suited for the LHP.
Mary Truheart says: The Luciferian Tarot has GREATLY Impacted me on my spiritual path!! For one year I decided to use nothing but these cards for my ritual workings as well as my meditations. These cards are so much more than just a divining tool, they are a grimoire unto themselves, and a powerful initiatory tool! I always wondered what Michael would say if I shared my experience with him?

I ( Phillip Torrey) say: Soon after I decided to write this article I had a very detailed memory about the first time I used the Luciferian Tarot. I waited until my wife and my boys went to bed to have some privacy. I laid out the trumps from 0 to 21. I brought myself into a light trance and visualized myself as the fool and walked the path to the world, marking down my experience after I pierced into each one of the trumps. The Journey was amazing! After I put all the trumps away and I spread out the minor arcana around a nine foot black table cloth (Grand Luciferian Circle) I performed the Lesser Encircling Rite of the Luciferian, and Cast the Circle of the Dragon! I faced each directional point, I wont go into detail, but I became very aware of its energy! It was a great experience. The goal was to feel the energy between myself and the cards. It was only after, that I realized that I performed a rite of initiation!!

I reached out to Michael Ford and told him how much his Tarot meant to me as well as many other Luciferians, and if I could have his permission to write an article about the discontinuation of his Luciferian Tarot? His answer was obviously yes, and that if I had any questions he would be happy to answer them!

Here they are:

I'd like to thank you for taking the time out to do answer my questions, it is truly an honor…

Phillip Torrey: How is it that you came across the idea for making the First Luciferian Tarot Deck?
Michael W. Ford: The Adversary as manifest in different cultures and mythologies, was a very close archetype for me. Luciferianism as it was developed in our particular tradition recognized the creative and empowering energies which were crowned by the symbol of Lucifer. I explored and recognized the balance between the creative and destructive cycles in nature and predatory instinct. I understood these as my Daemon and True Will became clear to me. I had wanted to utilize a Satanic tarot based around my basic research and initiatory current, yet only had at that time the Major Arcana of the Sinister Tarot (which is very good) and that was about it. The Nightside Tarot of Linda Falorio was highly useful for my Nightside work with the Tunnels of Set when I operated the Characith Lunar Lodge. I had slowly worked on a deeply intuitive tarot structure which presented the Adversary in many basic “Deific Masks”; that is both the masculine and feminine. Tarot decks can be very expensive to produce, I never actually planned to issue it unless a publisher would get behind it. You must remember, during the early to mid 2000’s, the occult genre avoid my “too dark” publications like the plague. This publication, while not perfect, was the first professionally published “Luciferian” and “Left hand path” tarot. It was the path of my Daemon to see it published.

Phillip Torrey: What was it that inspired you to create the Luciferian Tarot Deck?
Michael W Ford: Manifesting the Adversary as my initiatory insight allowed. I wanted a creative and darkly consuming tarot which could be a gateway to those Deific Masks and demonic energies. I was fortunate that Nico Claux was perfectly in tune with my gnosis and really made those images from my detailed descriptions, come to “life”.

Phillip Torrey: Why was Nico Claux chosen to do the art work for the Luciferian Tarot Deck?
Michael W Ford: I had contact with him before and liked his work. He sent me a painting of myself when he did a series of Anton LaVey, Aleister Crowley and others. I was impressed. I asked him and presented him with the publications and details of each design, which he totally embraced and manifested according to my desire.

Phillip Torrey: Other than your Luciferian Tarot do you have a favorite tarot deck, and why?
Michael W. Ford: I have a few I like well enough; the Babylonian Tarot is good, Thoth Deck was my first and still is good, Nightside Tarot by Linda Falorio, I like the Daemonic Tarot but I would have done it different. My personal favorite is a full deck of the Sinister Tarot of the ONA.

Phillip Torrey: Why do you feel that this is the right time to discontinue the Luciferian Tarot?
Michael W. Ford: It was published in a run of 1,000 and after the cost we decided to not re-print in that form. In the future, if it is possible, it will be improved but the Major Arcana will remain.

Phillip Torrey: Is there anything that you would have changed about the Luciferian Tarot Deck when you first saw the finished product? If so why?
Michael W Ford: The type setter for the printed called me and told me he had to re-write for formatting the description on the back. He misspelled Samael which I did not catch until after we received the decks. Small issue, the cards have a few minor numbering errors but it is STILL a very useful deck which I use consistently still!

Phillip Torrey: As a person who has gone through the process, and successfully produced a successful Tarot Deck, what advice would you give to someone who's goal is to produce their own tarot deck?
Michael W Ford: It is expensive, if you have a tarot publisher then much better. I must say having the right artist for what you wish to present is imperative. Don’t settle and every detail – from the smallest symbol to the color should be described along with even something such as the way a scene is positioned. These have the potential to being gateways to specific types of energy, not to mention a bridge to the inherent desire and Daemon.

Phillip Torrey: Finally, fans want to know what the future holds, and with this deck being discontinued will there be another Luciferian Tarot, or something like it in the future?
Michael W Ford: I would like to work on an updated Luciferian Tarot, the book will remain in print once the decks sell out. I do have a lot of plans for the future!

Phillip Torrey: Thank You for taking the time to answer these questions!
Michael W. Ford: Thank you for the questions!

The end of another year and the beginning of a New Luciferian Era part three!
Tragic deaths of several icons began this year, the magnificent David Bowie being at the forefront of these tragedies for many of us. The Herald of the Dawn has fortunately survived and continues to grow stronger by the day.

The Order has once again begun its 10 month long Qliphonaut Odyssey hosted by Hierophant Cort Williams which pathworks through the Adverse Tree of Daath (Qliphoth). Two new Cells have seen daylight;
  • Ankh Ka: Explores the alchemy of the black waters from which comes our very Ka and personal transformation. Hosted by Ain Volk IV° MH☿D
  • Mercuræn Enochian: The study and application of various Enochian Systems to achieve Mercurius Consciousness. Hosted by Phillip Torrey I° NH☿D
The founder and icon of the esteemed Temple of Set, Ipsissimus Lt. Col. Dr. Michael Aquino published Mind Star.  IMO a must read for anyone even slightly interested in the metaphysics of the inexplicable thing we call our Soul.

For another year Magi Brandon Rogers has been installed as Worshipful Master in his Masonic Lodge and has been successfully developing his H☿D Cell LHP Masonry.

Take It To The Limit….
by Kate Gallwey

Meditation has this rosy glow of an idea that it will sort out all our problems in life. It is sold to us as a cure all for all the stress and distress in our lives. With Meditation you can clear up all those health problems, and deal with people in a calmer, more connected way. The pictures are of people sitting in a cross legged position looking calm and serene. Telling you that you can change your life by following a few practices every day.

I have been listening to this stuff all my life, When I was nineteen I trained as a TM teacher and learned how to take a mantra deep inside my mind for 20 minutes twice a day. It was merely a start to the next two decades of learning how to try and still my mind. I have learned many many different ways of meditation since and in March of this year spent 10 days in silence learning Vipassana meditation.

It doesn’t work.

It will not give you super health and inner calm. Maybe in a world of isolation and intense spiritual prayer and dedication you can find some peace but I am not living in a monastery. I live in a house hold full of kids, cats and nearly permanent mess and noise. There is no spare room for peace and meditation, there is no room to yourself at all…unless maybe the bathroom and spending an hour in there on your own is not appreciated by the rest of the family.

Can you find peace in chaos is what we are asking of these mostly Eastern techniques?

I have found that the answer is mostly no… but…
I love that ‘but’…it is where things start to get interesting.

If I blend all those techniques together and use what I need at the moment then we have found something that shows promise. I cannot promise to spend 2 hours a day meditating, that may happen over the weekend occasionally but I run a busy household and there is no time or space in my life for commitment of that sort. Children need to be fed, watered, clothed and supervised.

Do not ask a busy parent on how many hours a day they meditate, you WILL get sworn at

Don’t you love it when a Facebook meme comes round and it just makes you cringe? It goes something like this…

It is recommended that you meditate for 20 minutes every day unless you are too busy, then it is recommended you meditate for an hour.

Lots of expletives at that sort of message… Sure I will be a little late picking my son up from school, he doesn’t mind…If I try and meditate in the early morning I go right back to sleep again, the same also happens late at night. When am I meant to fit this extra hour in, with small children even going to the toilet on your own is hard work?

So the meditation gurus promise that you can deal with stress better, exercise more and be a better you, but only if you follow the rules….
…where have I heard this stuff before?
Try on most product advertising these days. Do this or you will be sorry! Stop making me feel bad about everything. It is so painfully obvious that we are being sold a line of BS it is scary. Am I so desperate for a ‘better me’ that can cope with life and all its drama that I will buy into something that is so clearly not real?

Yep, have done since I was 19.

A trick is to look and see how many people have actually succeeded in finding peace calm and enlightenment with meditation. There are a few who have followed the Buddhist traditions and are respected in their wisdom and dedication I can give you chapter and history of these men, and women, but mostly men, that apparently have achieved a state of higher consciousness due to meditation. But the one thing all of them have in common is that they were not bringing up kids at the same time, and many of them abandoned their families to go off into the wilderness and become a wise meditation practitioners. Hmmmm?

I don’t approve of this sort of role model.

Too many abandoned children out there as it is.

To take a path of spirituality and meditation while bringing up children is very hard indeed and very rare. To be a woman and subject to the ebb and flow of the fertile nature of the female body means we are not consistent creatures. I dance to my own rhythm and flow and not much can be done to put a tap or regulate that. It has been tried.

I know women who dedicate themselves to the path of meditation and isolation can do it just as well as the men, but I cannot do that. I can only press my nose up against the window and long for the seeming peace that they may find. I need to stay in the storms and dramas of family life. I do not have the luxury of running off and leaving my responsibilities behind. So what can I do?

Society offers me very little support here…shopping or alcohol? No thank you. I understand that it is inside I must travel to find peace, if I cannot find it inside, I am never going to find it on the outside. This I understand.

Vipassana did offer me an insight here. I try and do an hour a day of Vipassana, it doesn’t get done every day as I will never be a consistent creature…but I try. Vipassana asks you to pay attention to the still body and run your conscious mind up and down, over, round and through your body. All feeling is acknowledged and heard but it is of no importance. No attachment to sensation is the idea. The body goes very quiet at this and the energy increase is often uncomfortable. I do not find a lot of peace when I come out of an hour Vipassana meditation, but it is still early days on this as I have only been doing this since March of this year. But the body goes though a kind of stillness barrier that is noticeable….I do not know what it does but it is doing something on a physical level. This is level 1.

Level 2 Is the mind. Now this is not Vipassana. This is pure Kate.
My mind will not be still…ever. There is a constant running dialogue going on, pretty much all the time I am awake. It cannot be fought, it just gets louder. Music, painting, magic, writing, dancing, welding, good sex, a good book or film may turn the volume down a bit but it is still there. Shopping or booze certainly also quietens it down for a bit as well.

I had this idea of meditation, due to TM, that one day this constant voice would be quiet. I call bs on that. This stream of consciousness is part of me. It is part of the human state on this world. It will not ever die and my efforts of silencing it just makes it stronger.

This is what they have been trying to sell me since I was 19 and it is rubbish.

Level 2 is the hardest hurdle I have had to face….so far :) This internal voice, or the Rational Mind (RAT) as I have heard it being called, is the voice that runs me down and tells me I am worthless, fat and has no skills. It can also work things out and access all kinds of things that is useful. But it really can do a number on me like no one else can. In Vipassana I learned to be nice to RAT. I would set tasks for it and throw it stuff to play with like a stick with a dog and send it out to gather data. It worked very well. To give RAT a rich emotional fantasy to play with is wonderful food for it. RAT is very creative and can come up with all kinds of good ideas if you let it. Rat is a good servant but bad master…someone else wrote that, he was right.

I recently learned a new posture to meditate in. I can lock my body in most positions due to having years of sleeping children and cats sleeping on me and not wanting to disturb them. But this one was a lot more of a challenge. I will have to draw it as I can find no references to it online. You are standing on your tip toes with hands behind your back and back arched and neck forward.
Yeah.. I thought wtf as well.
You are meant to keep still. Well good luck with that. I was wobbling all over the place. It hurt. RAT was not happy. I only had to stay there for 5 minutes one day then 10 minutes the next but the grumblings of RAT grew very loud. Loud enough for a moment of clarity.

RAT is not me. I am not RAT.

I get that psychology and modern science has killed off all our internal and external gods and has tried to make everything clear cut and precise. This stuff is very subjective and personal but when I get an answer from two different places I know I am on to something. By learning to watch RAT while I was standing on my tip toes with back, neck and shoulder screaming at me. I learned that that bloody annoying little RAT is not me, it can look and sound like me but it is not me. The realization of this means I am now free of it. It means that meditation is not actually necessary. Though I will still plod along with my hour when I can…What other gems will I find? There is so much potential here.

Meditation is the signpost but not the art form. I can now watch RAT whenever it intrudes itself into my mind. It is feeling like a constant meditation. Position doesn’t matter at all, I can be assisting with home work or stacking the dishwasher. I am the watcher now and RAT has quietened down a large amount. That knowledge that IT IS NOT ME was huge.

RAT is like the body now, I have not associated my being with my body for a long time now. It is merely something I wear on this world and when it gets old it will be replaced. No hassles, but the internal dialogue is also part of this plain of reality that I am just borrowing, like I am renting a house that comes with its own internal radio that can never be switched off. It comes with the body, it is not part of the soul that occupies it.

I liked that, I grew and said, ‘Ah ha!’

A happy moment of shit coming together.

An Interview with LHP Mason Brandon Lee Rogers
By Phillip Torrey

PT:  Magi Rogers, You are the owner of the Herald of the Dawns Left Hand Path (LHP) Masonry cell. Could you please tell me what LHP Masonry is? and explain a little what Freemasonry is, what similarities they share? As well as their differences?

Brandon Lee Rogers
The LHP Masonry cell is a group that studies all the vast symbolism that is veiled within Freemasonry to incorporate it in our daily practices, ritual, and disciplines to achieve what we call in the order of the Herald of the Dawn, Mercurean Consciousness. Freemasonry originally started out as a guild for stone masons to share their craft among other brethren or Masons. Freemasonry now is not operative but a speculative fraternity; the fraternal order teaches the symbolism behind the tools and allegory that follows to allow the Mason to build his own symbolic temple. In another words, make him into a better man. The Left hand path (LHP) part of Freemasonry can be seen within the symbolism and allegory; The symbolism itself is however subjective to every Mason due to how openly enough he perceives the symbols just as he would receive the "word". The LHP part of Masonry seems to be more known within the Scottish Rite branch of Freemasonry, in which, brother Albert Pike who was a 33° Mason and wrote the book titled "Morals and Dogma" explains a lot about Lucifer, especially from what a lot of LHP Mystai can commonly relate to. The only differences between Masonry itself and the LHP aspect of it is that when a man wants to join the fraternity he has to profess a belief in a supreme being, most of which claim the christian God. I however acknowledge a long with most LHP Mystai, that we are the supreme being or God designing our own temple, but mostly due to how Masonry is today that consists of many christian men clouds the teachings of the order itself, that is my opinion however.

PT: Magi Rogers, Would you say that Freemasonry is occult based or would you say that it is based more on Gnosticism? I also have the same question for LHP Masonry as well?

Brandon Lee Rogers
I would say that Masonry is still Occult based on its teachings but the society itself is not occult due to it being out in the open to lure more young men that desire to be initiated into the craft. I would still say though that this is entirely subjective to the Mason himself depending on their path, and their ways of practice. . .

PT: Magi Rogers, Is Freemasonry a secret society? If the answer is no, why do people think that it is?

Brandon Lee Rogers
Yes and no. Freemasonry is so open to the public that its more of a fraternity than a secret society however, we do have secrets but I imagine since the 33° is an honorary degree and is hard to obtain that they in itself could be the actual "secret society" within the fraternity of Freemasonry.

PT: Magi Rogers, A frequent misconception about the titles, Freemason, and Mason get confused. Most people consider them one and the same could you please clarify the difference between the two titles? For example why is the word free in Freemason?

Brandon Lee Rogers
A Freemason is the general meaning for "Free builder" which like I said by our ancient brethren were operative and speculative, but we are now only speculative. A Mason itself is usually someone who is an operative Mason who literally builds buildings and is not a Freemason within the fraternity (There are some Freemasons who are literal Masons however, but if you are a Freemason, you might just abbreviate another brother by calling him a mason).

PT: Magi Rogers, Today there is so much information about Freemasonry available. Anyone could find out the mysteries just by going to the local bookstore. When you become a Freemason don’t you take a oath of silence, and are not aloud to talk about the information available already to the public. Do you think that would restrict a persons Freedom in a way? And could you please share how that information because public?

Brandon Lee Rogers
Yes we do take an oath of silence to not exploit the secrets which are generally our modes of recognition. Taking the oath however is an act of a mans own free will and accord therefore not taking away our freedom of will because we chose to take the oath.I am not certain about the origins of Masonry's secrets getting exploited but it had to of been the work of a Mason who dropped out and wanted it to serve his own needs and not the fraternities.

PT: Magi Rogers, Does Freemasonry, and LHP Masonry have any associations with Lucifer symbolism, or Lucifer hirself?

Brandon Lee Rogers
Yes it does have a lot of Lucifer symbolism but due to it being open only to members of Herald of the Dawn I will not go any further on the teachings.

PT: Magi Rogers, Would the Freemasons of the world today accept LHP Masonry?

Brandon Lee Rogers
To the christian men? I do not feel they would be very open to the LHP aspect of Freemasonry, they would probably find it very repulsive.

PT: Magi Rogers, Do you have to be a initiated Freemason to practice LHP Masonry?

Brandon Lee Rogers
No you do not have to be initiated in order to practice LHP Masonry. The teachings of the tools and symbolism is mostly public however some of it is not. This does not restrict a person to join the Freemasons to seek the knowledge of the symbols.

PT: Magi Rogers, What advice would you give a person if they were looking into becoming a Freemason?

Brandon Lee Rogers
If I were to give advice to a man who wishes to join I would gladly help them since they made that choice and would advise them to be very open to everything that they might learn within the craft.

PT: Magi Rogers, What can one expect when they join your LHP Masonry Cell? What are your expectations of them?

Brandon Lee Rogers
One can expect a broadness of the gnosis that they will initially receive studying, designing correlations, and putting it into their own practicum.

PT: Finally, Magi Rogers, Do you have any final words that you would like to share about LHP Masonry, and or Freemasonry?

Brandon Lee Rogers
The only thing I would say to all of this is if you desire gnosis through the ways of the several liberal arts and sciences then this is the group for you.

PT: Thank you Magi Rogers for your time.

An Interview with author Kate Gallwey
By Phillip Torrey

Domini Kate Gallwey is a very well known self published author. She has published a number if works, her latest work is titled Being a Psychic Vampire. Kate is the owner of the publishing company called Catching Dragons, Kate is also the owner of an adult Facebook group called Sex and Blood Magick where she is happy to talk to you if you keep an open mind. In getting to know Kate I have found her to be very knowledgeable, and passionate in all her endeavors. I have found with Kate if you give her an honest question she will give you an honest answer. It was a pleasure to interview her. I hope you all enjoy!

PT: Domini Gallwey, In your opinion why do you think that Sex and Blood Magick is considered taboo in the world today?

Kate Gallwey
It isn't really considered taboo the world over, just in countries that are 'Abrahamised', ie. Christian, Jewish & Islamic. Sex & Blood Sorcery is taboo in these countries and there are many reasons for it. I could go into the first and most obvious reason is the subjugation of women. All Abrahamic religions have priests and no priestesses. Though some sects of Christians are finally bringing in women priests, this is not a common thing and I do not believe it is possible to change over 2 thousand years of segregation and denial of the divine feminine. Something needs to rise up and bleed society for being so stupid. Blood and sex magic can be practiced by both male and female practitioners but they both have to be equal in the eyes of each other. The power that rises in both must match and at the moment we have huge discrepancies in our Westernized society and that bounces around the entire energetic field of us all. Both men & women suffer for this imbalance.Sorcery, on the whole, is not encouraged, use science and logic, is the modern days message given out across the media and education system. Self empowerment and the development of inner knowledge and power is not really allowed. This whole society is built on distraction from the demons within. Sorcery demands that you deal with the demons within and stand and face them. We were born out of sex and blood, it is the raw primal force that brought us into this plane. It also is a huge force to play with and should not be done lightly. I mess around with a lot of spell working, energy and magicks but not sex and blood sorcery. It really does do what it says it does on the tin and that takes concentration and focus. Are you sure you have considered all the angles and rebounds here? If not the consequences are not entertaining.
PT: Thank you, Domini Gallwey, Do you know of an area in the world where Sex, and or Blood Magick is embraced in today's society? Or is it more or less a closed practice? A practice that one that one needs to seek out and explore for hir self?

Kate Gallwey
There are Tantric groups and schools world wide. It is underground but not very far. You can look in the fetish and BDSM industry and will find references to Sex & Blood magic's. There has been a surge in the pagan groups on sex magic that has been going on for a few decades now. Sex magic is not deep at all online, hippy chick shagging has been common since the sixties. The question has always been how deeply into the 'magic' does it go? For that you probably need some solitary study, otherwise you are just getting screwed.
PT: Thank you, Domini Gallwey, Can you please explain how Sex Magick can be applied in magickal workings?

Kate Gallwey
Have an orgasm and send out your intention to the Universe.
PT: Thank you, Domini Gallwey, Can you please explain how Blood Magick can be applied in magickal workings?

Kate Gallwey
Bleed an intention and send it out into the Universe.
PT: Thank you, Domini Gallwey,Can they be used together in the same working?

Kate Gallwey
Have a orgasm while you or your partner is menstruating or bleeding and hurl it out to the Universe.
PT: Thank you, Domini Gallwey, Can a single person perform Sex Magic? Or would they have to invoke the assistance of a an Incubus/Succubus? Or create a servitor? Something of that nature?

Kate Gallwey

Finding a person to match you in sex sorcery is rare. Crowley had other ideas but he mostly dominated the females involved, this is just a form of masturbation, in my opinion, it will only go so far. To hold space for another is a huge distraction and usually fails drastically in the race to orgasm. Group sex is highly romanticized and needs a strong leader who is not off his or her face on alcohol or drugs. To take it to the next level you have to be highly in tune with each other. This takes years of practicing solo. Solo is a good thing and you can make a lot of progress.I would not ever advise conjuring spirits to have sex with. The sheer desperation of the call leaves you open to all kinds of other things. At the point of orgasm you probably will lose control of it and it will bite you...if you are lucky. What seems to have an outward appearance of a sex demon spirit may be something else, unless you have the name of the spirit, it is not recommended. I have fed off people this way, they are being particularly stupid, and I eat stupid. I have actually placed energetic blocks on a person to stop him invoking a sex demon, because he would not be able to control it and his situation would be made a lot worse. Just masturbate and get it out of your system.
PT: Thank you, Domini Gallway, If a single person can successfully perform Sex magick, would it create more, less or the same amount of energy, as if 2 or more people were performing the same working?

Kate Gallwey
With a practiced couple or group working in harmony, the effect of the intention would be magnified greatly.
PT: Thank you, Domini Gallwey, In your opinion what effects do erotic images have on people?

Kate Gallwey
In our 'Westernized' society visual images have a huge hold over our consciousness. We are taught from an early age to regard our primary sense as sight. Therefore to invoke anything we start with visual images.
PT: Can a single drop of blood be just as effective in a magickal workings as say a pint of blood? Why?

Kate Gallwey
Yes, a drop is more precious than a pint. It has the homeopathy effect.
PT: Some Vampiric rituals involve the drinking of human blood. This is strictly a personal choice, but what health effects good or bad can this have on a person?

Kate Gallwey
If the blood is tested for, and clean from, disease, pathogens and is fresh, there are no adverse health effects on drinking human blood.
PT: Would you consider performing Sex and Blood Magick an art form? If the answer is yes do you personally think that one may connect to Mercurius Consciousness through the art of Sex and Blood Magick?

Kate Gallwey

To get this right it must be worked at and practiced for years. I am still a novice after over twenty years of practice of many disciplines. To fully work past your own inhibitions and find someone to match you takes time. Sorcery or Magic is an art form, your methods of achieving your art are merely the brush or pen you use, your tools, so-to-speak. I can mix a little candle or knot magic into some sex magic to achieve a certain texture or a little blood magic into some herbal magic for a bit of color. The art is the magic, not the tools used. That is the point of all creation, to achieve the state of becoming your Higher Self and silencing the voice of the ego. To create is to become god and to lose yourself in the moment of the endless now. Sex & blood sorcery can open the door to that, to go through the impure state of Lucifer to the pure state of Mercury, to crawl through blood, shit, humiliation or pain, filth and gross need and base animal desire and to rise into the pureness of spirit and being. It is a path that many play with.Sex can be used to shed the divisions of the ego and letting the chaos of the Universe to poke itself into your being. The trick would be at that point to observe it and take notes on what it is showing you. So much is lost in sex magic due to orgasm. Energy and wisdom is scattered to the winds when containment is not learned. A psychic vampire in astral form can just hover and collect over a mating human couple...Blood is using the 'wisdom of adversity' method of entry. Ask any 'cutter' or blood donor about the emotional release that goes with cutting oneself. Pain focusing the being to a point on the form. It is powerful stuff. Then you take in all the qualities of blood, both metaphysical and physical, I have all my genetic ancestors in there, I have DNA, what I have eaten, thought, and experienced, in one drop of blood. It also contains the quality of spirit, or Qi, it anchors us to this plane of reality and shields us from outside attacks and inside diseases. To give blood is to give a tiny drop of your spirit to someone. I would not ever do so with out very clear reason.

PT: People are going to do what they are going regardless of what people tell them, for that is human nature. You cant stop a person with a sexual disease, or a person with a blood issue for that matter from practicing Sex or Blood Magick, however, you can give advice. What advice would you give to this particular individual if you were asked?

Kate Gallwey
Learn about your own orgasm. What starts it? What stops it? Can you bring yourself to orgasm without hands? Can you move your orgasm, up and down the body? Be selective who you put your body into/ who you take into your body? Look at your sexual history, what did you learn from each of your partners? What did you learn from yourself? Advice is only given if asked, and I have learnt to ask a few questions first.
PT: Can you please give a brief description of your Facebook Group, Sex and Blood Magick?

Kate Gallwey
Sex & Blood Magic started as a place to discuss Vampire Sorcery, it specialized into sex & blood magic because I was getting asked lots of questions on sex and blood magic it was easier just to direct people to a group. The group is for adults to discuss sex and blood and all that you can do with these tools.
PT: What do you expect from people when they enter your group?

Kate Gallwey
To be adults and ask for what they want to know.
PT: What are the grounds for expulsion from the group?

Kate Gallwey
I do not know, it hasn't happened yet. Probably behaving like a child.
PT: Last question, Domini Gallwey, What advice would you give a person who knows nothing about Sex and Blood Magick? What direction would you send them in? Who would you reference, historical, or otherwise?

Kate Gallwey
Mantak Chia is a good author to start with. There is an awful lot of rubbish out there. Many of the occult sex magic stuff is flawed or has key point missing, ie. It wont work when you follow the instructions. Tantra is also a good place to learn sex magic but it didn't fit me, personally, very well. I learned most of what worked for me from the Celtic Sisterhood, they have no online presence and taught groups in cafes and coffee shops around 25 years ago. I am glad I took notes. Observe yourself or as the Oracle at Delphi put it 'Know thyself' best advice ever. All you need to know is inside you.
PT: Thank you for this interview
